Here resistor color codes are given for reference and needed for students and electrical engineers. when resistors are small in size, it is difficult to print and read its information. So color coding gives clear and reliable data about resistor.
Color | Digit | Multiplier | Tolerance (%) |
Black | 0 | 100=1 | |
Brown | 1 | 101 | 1 |
Red | 2 | 102 | 2 |
Orange | 3 | 103 | |
Yellow | 4 | 104 | |
Green | 5 | 105 | 0.5 |
Blue | 6 | 106 | 0.25 |
Violet | 7 | 107 | 0.1 |
Grey | 8 | 108 | |
White | 9 | 109 | |
Gold | 10-1 | 5 | |
Silver | 10-2 | 10 |
There 3 types of resistors present, as 4 band, 5 band and 6 band resistors. Band is a color strip attached to resistor. The last two bands represent multiplier and Tolerance values. The remaining first bands represent digits.
In the 6 band resistors the last band represent temperature coefficient, first 3 bands are numeric digits, 4th and 5th are multiplier and tolerance same as in 5 band resistors.
